In defense of Sarah Palin

Michelle Malkin, NRO - ......The finks turned to Newsweek and Fox News to spread petty rumors about Palin’s intellect and character. The magazine peddled anecdotes from sources horrified that Palin greeted top advisers at her hotel room — gasp! — “wearing nothing but a towel” and “wet hair.” Fox News reporter Carl Cameron breathlessly reported that his unnamed McCain sources told him Palin lacked “a degree of knowledgeability necessary to be a running mate” because, they claimed, she didn’t know which countries were parties to the North American Free Trade Agreement and “didn’t understand that Africa was a continent, rather than a series, a country just in itself.”

......In introducing her to America, McCain praised her independence and backbone: She “stands up for what’s right, and she doesn’t let anyone tell her to sit down.” The inside snipers are now roasting her for that very attribute — redefined as “going rogue” — because she had the nerve to try to schedule media interviews on her own. The nerve of her!

......Hollywood savaged Palin. Journalists mocked her. Liberal blogs slimed her. Opponents cursed her; Photoshopped her; hacked her e-mail; hanged her in effigy,; called her bigot, Bible-thumper, and bimbo; and attacked her husband and children. But nothing Palin endured during the election season compares to the treatment she’s receiving from these backstabbing blabbermouths who worked on the same campaign she poured herself into over the last three months.

Sarah Palin worked her heart out. She energized tens of thousands to come out when they would have otherwise stayed home. She touched countless families. I didn’t agree with everything she said on the campaign trail. But she vigorously defended the Second Amendment and the sanctity of life more eloquently in practice than any of the educated conservative aristocracy. And she did it all with a tirelessness and an infectious optimism that defied the shameless, bottomless attempts by elites in both parties to bring her and her family down.
Read the whole article if you can folks, Malkin is really lacerating of the haters.

From my perspective, I don't see this as Palin's fault. Assuming all this is correct, she was not chosen in the primaries and she didn't put her hand up, McCain chose her. So if you want to blame anyone, then it falls to McCain and the Republicans.

One thing I find quite telling is how the scumbag media and haters are still going after Palin. I mean, it's not like the election is still going to happen or something. It's all over now, she's gone back to Alaska but they're still going after her. And that says something to me.

If Palin really was all the terrible things they insist that she is, then why not just leave her be, let her run in 2012 or 2016 to be President, she has to go through the primaries and all that, like the other candidates. And it's not like you haters and scumbags are suddenly going to give her a fair-go in the future. You know you'll still be around hating, smearing, sliming and whatever else you do, so you'll get a another chance at her.

I think the elitist scum of the western world are terrified of Palin, they are scared witless that she actually connects with ordinary people and they need to squash her and every other ordinary person into the ground so no one like her ever gets any fancy ideas of running for the role of President without their approval. A sort of sneering, contemptuous - we will decide who gets to run for the top jobs, you trash just go back to your small towns and do as you're told or else.
