Leftist fiscal priorities

ABC News [Sept. 9, 2008] - The New South Wales Premier, Nathan Rees, says the Budget deficit blow-out could be even greater than the Opposition is projecting. Economists are warning of a Budget deficit of about $200 million, but Opposition finance spokesman Mike Baird says it could be more than double that if the economy keeps contracting. ...... "It was shocking for all of us two weeks ago to be told this and over the next couple of weeks I'll be meeting personally with the ratings agencies, and we've got the mini-Budget process underway now."

The Land [Oct. 2, 2008] - Nathan Rees yesterday signalled deep cuts in the capital spending program and a radical departure from the $140 billion infrastructure strategy of the former premier, Morris Iemma. ...... Treasury pressure on infrastructure spending is apparent again today, as the Herald reveals the Government is facing renewed pressure from its officials to dump Mr Iemma's promised $1.36 billion South West Rail Link, a 13-kilometre line to the new population growth centre at Edmondson Park and Leppington.

Ninemsn [Sept. 29, 2008] - The Children's Hospital in Sydney is facing an annual budget shortfall of more than $30 million, its chief adviser says, and it was only a matter of time before the lack of funds cost a child's life. ...... The hospital at Westmead was underfunded by about $35 million this year, Mr Corbett said, while over the next five years the deficit was expected to blow out to $250 million. ...... The opposition also highlighted a report by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, which found NSW spent $496 million on health infrastructure in 2006-07. This was $80 million less than the 2005-06 it spent in 2005-06.
Sounds like the state is in the crapper, we're going on over a decade of leftist government and I'm sure that has nothing whatsoever to do with the fiscal mess we're in. Never mind that the federal government is sitting fat on billions in surplus thanks to the Conservatives before them. Anyway, you'd think that the leftists currently in charge of the mess would get their priorities straight, we have infrastructure cuts, hospitals funding cuts etc, no money for all that but apparently we have money for the following, even if they are making a profit by themselves.
Daily Telegraph [Oct. 2, 2008] - TAXPAYERS will for the first time be forced to fund the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras after the State Government last night came to the financial aid of the debt-plagued event. Mardi Gras organisers and new government body Events NSW confirmed the deal last night after it was leaked to the gay media yesterday. ...... Government support has included help with policing and public transport, and financial exemptions. The new funding arrangement, which follows months of negotiations, will involve taxpayer dollars going directly into the colourful parade for the first time. ...... The financial turnaround was already underway before the deal, with New Mardi Gras reporting a $500,000 profit this year.
So we're going to be propping up an already profitable event, give yourself a slap if you think that some of those profits might come back your way, after you start kicking in. I'm sure those profits will be put back into the gay media or something gay related because last I checked weren't the homos getting murdered and thrown off bridges in the hundreds and what not, so they need all the support they can get.

The other day I was busy filling in my tax return for the last year and because I work more than one job, I have to pay more in tax. You see because I work extra and earn more money, I'm like this nasty bastard who deserves to be punished. They call it 'progressive' taxation, progressive for the useless parasite who's never worked a day in his worthless life and probably never will I suppose.

Anyway I, like many of you living in NSW, had better suck it up and get to work folks, go on, stop whining and get to it, someone has to pay for all these parasites you know. While the place is falling apart and your tired ass is pulling those extra hours and what not, just remember some of your hard earned money will be supporting a couple of thousand(?) homos prancing around half-naked in the main street of your city once a year. A fine cause wouldn't you say!
