Back to class warfare now?

Daily Telegraph - CORPORATE high flyers would be slugged with a 50 per cent tax rate when their salaries hit $1 million under a tax blueprint backed by federal MPs. The radical change could raise $435 million in much-needed revenue for the embattled federal Budget. It comes as Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has pledged to crackdown on "extreme capitalism". ...... A landmark report by the Canberra-based Australia Institute found that 5,600 executives earned $1 million-plus in 2006 - but paid on average less than 20 per cent in tax. If they had paid an extra 5 per cent, more than $250 million would have been raised - money which is desperately needed to bolster the Budget's bottom line.
Hang on just a minute there, back during the election the Ruddster was telling us that he was an economic conservative and that he would be running a surplus, he also told us that he was full of fresh ideas and new leadership. It hasn't even been a year, the fellow handed out 10 billion just a few days ago and we suddenly have an embattled federal Budget that desperately needs to be bolstered! The lying rodent!
......ACTU President Sharan Burrow said the plan for a fat cat levy should be considered as part of a suite of measures to rein-in extreme capitalism. "Of course we would look at any reforms that would make extreme salaries more palatable (to the community)," Ms Burrow said. Greens' leader Bob Brown said the Government should consider the tax plan in the wake of the global financial crisis, which has highlighted a culture of corporate excess.
So this is what it's going to be like in Australia now, your salary needs to be 'palatable' to the rest of the community. Why stop at salaries, why not houses, cars, TVs, why don't we all just kick in the door of the bastard-next-door and have a look around? Oh fancy plasma ey, nice beach view you got there, nice big fridge you got there son, I'll have a beer thanks. Call Burrows and the rest of the scumbags and get this fellow on the high-tax bracket, the plasma, the 4-bedroom McMansion and the fancy four-by-four are a bit unpalatable to us so we need to spread your wealth around son, bring you down to earth you know.

While we're at it, why only the pay of executives, what about high-flying celebrities, if a fat cat can't earn 1 million, why should a celebrity or anyone for that matter, we need to get in on all these bastards. What about those that scrimped & saved and are sitting on million dollar homes now. Don't they know there's a recession on, so start acting like it, spread the wealth folks or else.
Independent Senator Nick Xenophon also backed a new tax rate for the mega-rich. "I think the idea has got merit and it is worth looking at," Senator Xenophon said. "We are talking about the creme de la creme - and we can skim a bit more off them," the South Australian Senator said.
If you or I turned up outside the house of some fellow (never mind if he worked his ass off for what he had) and took his wallet off him and told him, listen chump, you got 200 dollars in there, I'll take 10 thanks and from tomorrow I'll skim 15 since you can obviously afford it, the cops would be there waiting for me tomorrow, cos that's called stealing. It's also 'wrong' to help yourself to money that other people worked for and earned via legal means, no matter what you believe they can afford, but then, 'wrong' was never much of an issue with "extreme socialists" was it.

A poll was conducted asking people if they'd support taxing salaries over $1 million at 50%.

So if we start screwing the rich over, the lying rodent would get an extra $250 million, I wonder what these people who voted to stick-it to the rich would think of the following. What if those who are already paying far more than us in tax decided to pack their bags and shove off elsewhere, go somewhere where the state and the community lets them keep more of the money they worked for? What if the companies that employ these "extreme capitalists" decide to also shove off out of Australia because these "extreme capitalists" have found work outside Australia where it's more palatable for the community.

So as a result of the extra 250 million we've all decided to 'skim' off them, because we've decided that they can afford it, we end up getting a nice fat zero instead. That should be more 'palatable' right, be finally rid of those "extreme" capitalists. We can all then remain here bitching and moaning at each other, why does ben have the SS Commodore, he just needs the Barina from what I can see, you have too much ben, hand some of it over. Pass the cream, that sort of narky thing.
