Loose borders - Time to cough up

The Australian [July 2008] - Immigration Minister Chris Evans will outline significant reforms to the system of mandatory detention today, extending the Labor Government’s original pledge to remove all children from detention. [snip] Senator Evans said today that under Labor’s new policy detention, Immigration Detention Centres will only be used as a last resort and for the shortest practicable time. “A person who poses no danger to the community will be able to remain in the community while their visa status is resolved,” Senator Evans said. “The department will have to justify why a person should be detained. Once in detention a detainee’s case will be reviewed every three months to ensure that the further detention of the individual is justified. “Children will not be detained in an immigration detention centre.” [snip] “Unauthorised boat arrivals at excised places will continue to be processed on Christmas Island but will now have access to legal assistance and an independent review of unfavourable decisions.”
At the time, many tried to tell the government they were heading down the wrong path, that this would lead to more issues and an increase in illegal immigration to this country. Naturally, the leftists running the show weren't interested in all that, one-world, global citizens and all that crap I suppose. Well, guess what folks.
Perth Now [October 2008] - ANOTHER boatload of illegal migrants has been intercepted in the Timor Sea, headed for Australia - the second interception this week. The incident undermines an assurance by the Rudd Government that Labor's softening of its refugee policy has not been exploited by people smugglers. A wooden fishing boat carrying 17 people, believed to be three crew and 14 passengers, landed at an offshore oil facility called the Front Puffin in the Timor Sea at 10.30am yesterday. The Front Puffin is located at the Puffin oil field, which is in Australian waters about 700km west of Darwin. The people in the fishing boat, who are understood to be from the Middle East, were later picked up by the navy. Last night, they were en route to Christmas Island, where they will join a second boatload of suspected asylum-seekers who arrived almost exactly a week before them.
Soon as they get here, they'll claim asylum, if they have children they can't be put into a detention facility. All they have to do is demand access to legal assistance and the leftists running this country into the ground will come running to take money from you to pay for this legal assistance, independant reviews and what not.

Fortunately these ones will be processed on Christmas island, good luck if other ones make it to mainland Australia, you read the above, those who pose no danger will be released into the community. As if a would-be terrorist or scumbag is going to tell us, yeah skippie, I'm coming here to rape your infidel whores and blow you to pieces. Oh and I used to molest children back home, so I wouldn't release me into the community if I were you!

And even if some are detained, it has to be reviewed every 3 months, so you have to keep proving that they still pose a danger. And I'm sure some leftist will start a petition to release them, because they're such nice people and they were so well behaved for the 3 months, human-rights, freedom-fighters etc, so good luck with that.

Get used to it folks, you'll be paying for all this, while the leftists waffle on about human rights and organize mass wailing, it'll be the budget surplus (your money) and your wallet that'll be getting thinner as the list of "refugees" and other nonsensical crap to fund only gets bigger and bigger.
