Priorities - Leftist style

News.com.au - THE global economic crisis is biting in suburbia with more than 6,000 people lining up outside a Queensland church for free food today. The crowd snaked around Logan, south of Brisbane, to get free groceries provided by the Christian Tribe of Judah church. The church said its Free Food Fridays used to cater mainly for the homeless but now more people had been forced to ask for help. ...... Naomi Richardson, the mother of a young baby who received food from the church, told the ABC that she had little choice but to queue for handouts. "Rent is going up, so is the cost of fuel and what not, it's getting a little bit harder every time," she said.
I thought our welfare state is supposed to look after the poor and destitute, isn’t that what we’re supposed to be paying all this tax for? Work extra hours, save your money and earn interest off it, get a second job and there comes the taxman to kick you in the teeth like he’s trying to punish you or something. We’re pretty much being taxed from pillar to post to pay for the ‘free’ healthcare and welfare and all that, so what the hell is all this about!

But fear not folks, I’m sure working-families Kevin08 will look after us, I remember him mouthing some gaseous platitudes about the homeless a while ago, in these tough times he’ll save us, won’t he?
LiveNews - The global financial crisis does not reduce the need to respond to climate change, the federal government says. Climate Change Minister Penny Wong, in Poland for talks ahead of a key United Nations climate change conference in Copenhagen, says the crisis will be factored into the design of a future emissions trading scheme. ...... She was responding to comments from Woodside chief executive Don Voelte who said a carbon trading scheme could not start in 2010, as flagged in the government's green paper. ...... "No government can risk jobs in the economy until we get stabilisation within the world marketplace.
Oops, sorry folks, look elsewhere, fresh outta ideas here, get back in the queue if you know what’s good for you, elections over, the Ruddster has more important things to do now, the war on summer must continue, we must stop the climate from changing, down with warmth, we want cold!

Incase anyone is lost, you know that free food that was handed out to the poor, it ain’t free. Someone somewhere paid for it with money they made working for someone else, and that’s called a job. That someone else who provided that job is part of this economy and guess what they do when the economy goes south, they let go of some people who then don’t have any money left over to buy those ‘free’ groceries to give to the poor.

Yes, I understand it’s rather simplistic, but I’m a simple fellow, a peasant even.
