Our taxes to fund leftist shrine!

Earlier we heard that the Rudd government was going to scrap a scheme that paid carers in Australia a piddling $1600 a year. Bear in mind this isn't PM Rudd sitting in his office, writing cheques long into the night or something, it's our money that they'll be doling out to the carers. Being a taxpayer myself, I'm wary of our money being thrown around, but in this case, I think these people deserve every cent of that $1600. Just as the carers were bracing themselves to suck up the bad news, we find that there's more outrageous news, thanks to a reader (GK).
kevin_rudd.jpg Daily Telegraph - KEVIN Rudd has approved funds for a $2.6m shrine to the Australian Labor Party as he prepares to announce savage spending cuts in the May Budget. The proposed Tree of Knowledge "Memorial Site", in outback Queensland's Barcaldine, would pay homage to the formation of the ALP in the Great Shearer's Strike of 1891. A spokesman for Regional Development Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed both projects would proceed because they were election promises. The Tree of Knowledge development was rejected by the Transport and Regional Services Department before the election.
It's unbelievable, the left are supposed to be caring and compassionate, yet it was the mean, nasty, cruel Howard government that brought this carer's bonus scheme to give them that piddling $1600 a year. PM Rudd just won the election barely 3 months ago and he was going to hit the ground running. Bloody hell, we didn't know he was going to hit the ground trampling the carers. But he's going ahead with this Shrine to the Australian Labor Party, using taxpayers money! I have to wonder, is there going to be some scheme in the future where we will be strongly encouraged to go on pilgrimage to this Shrine and get on our hands and knees and bray 'all hail glorious leader Rudd'?
