" This weekend The Washington Post headlined story, "Pentagon Asking Congress to Hold Back on Generous Increases in Troop Pay,” disclosed that the Obama administration is “pleading” with Congress to give military personnel a much smaller increase in pay than lawmakers have proposed.

"The Pentagon contends that
Congress simply has been too generous

with troops during the past decade."

"For example, the military brass claims that an average sergeant in the Army with four years of service and one dependent would receive $52,589 in annual compensation, according to the paper. This figure includes basic pay, housing, and subsistence allowances, as well as tax benefits.
Meanwhile, a U.S. postal letter carrier, with no supervisory or hazardous duty, makes approximately $80,000 a year when all benefits are factored in."

  1. I heard that a bus driver in one of your more liberal states earns close to $150K a year.

Figures how zero is happy to screw over the troops, he probably thinks it's lawyers and community parasites that keep the nation safe.

  2. Leftists would love to pay the troops more. They want to ensure the troops act out of a sense of entitlement rather than a sense of duty. Be careful what you wish for.

  3. You don't join the military - any branch - to get rich.
    That's not the point.

However, we'd all give up the raises if the government would bring ALL the other federal workers' salaries DOWN TO MATCH MILITARY PAY SCALES.

America MUST cut this insane spending (before we crash like Greece and the EU) and that means EVERYONE has to take big bites of the shit sandwich!
    ...particularly the over-paid, under-worked bureaucraps.
