Birth of a child, just another medical procedure?

A LESBIAN couple is suring a Canberra doctor after one of them gave birth to twins instead of one child. In the first case of its kind in Australia, the couple, who now live in Melbourne, are suing Dr Robert Armellin for more than $400,000 to cover the cost of raising one of the twin girls until the age of 21. The birth mother of the girls, who are now aged three, claims Dr Armellin implanted her with two embryos, when she told him minutes before the IVF procedure in November 2003 that she only wanted one. She said she and her partner briefly considered adopting out one of the girls but dismissed the idea. Source.

If they dismissed the idea of putting one up for adoption, then why sue? On the one side they want to approach this like it was some sort of transaction, I only paid for one DVD Player but I got two, but then they want to whinge that they got two and because they are not DVD players but are children, we can't just give them away, so we'll just take you to the cleaners instead. As usual with these types, the children are not at the top of their priority list. You can hide the identities all you like, but sooner or later one of them is going to figure out they weren't wanted and the parent was so pissed off that they were born, they sued somebody over it. Model parents these lot are aren't they, really know how to make a child feel special.
