Pressure to reinstate police chief

NSW police investigating revenge attacks linked to the Cronulla riot today will demand the police chief reinstate their sacked commander or face the threat of industrial action.
Investigating? How about preventing?

Strike Force Enoggera police also want politicians and outsiders to stay out of policing and recognise their hard work or they might consider industrial action.
Is that a threat? Where was the force on December 12, when the Lebanese Muslim gangs started congregating at Punchbowl Park? On strike? Quite frankly, they might as well have been.
NSW Police Association president Bob Pritchard today said strike force members would meet Mr Moroney at 2pm (AEDT) at Botany Police Station with a view to having acting Det Supt Bray reinstated. "They want their commander back and they want to be recognised for the good work they've done," Mr Pritchard said.
When you start making arrests, then you’ll be recognised. But do forgive us for still feeling decidedly pissed off about this:

NSW Premier Morris Iemma earlier said a police decision not to break-up a gathering of Middle Eastern youths in a Sydney park the night after the Cronulla riot was being investigated.
A decision that put lives at risk.

He said police were not sent in to disperse the crowd of about 100 youths congregated at Punchbowl Park on December 12 because their commanding officer was concerned for police safety.

“Concerned for police safety”? How about public safety? How about the decision that left us at the mercy of a gang of armed thugs intent on beating (and potentially killing) unarmed and innocent people, not to mention the immense destruction of property? Sorry, fellas, but the NSW Police lost a huge amount of our trust on December 12, and I have not heard one single apology for the fact that we, the public, were basically hung out to dry. And you demand to be thanked?
