Dan Rather: "Articulate" Obama Couldn’t Even "Sell Watermelons"

We read:

"I await the silence and the excuses from the media. Obama will tell us how Rather has always been a man of "good intentions," and always on the "right side of the issues."

If a conservative broadcaster had said that, the shrieks of "racism" would be resounding from coast to coast.

For non-American readers: Blacks are popularly believed to love fried chicken and watermelons. So any time anyone associates either food with a black it is "sterotyping" and hence "racist". Nobody mentions what has been known among psychologists since the 1930s: That stereotypes usually have a "kernel of truth". See here and here for summaries of the research. But truth is a very secondary consideration for Leftists. Projecting their own hostile impulses onto others is much more important.

Dan Rather is a former major TV personality with a distinct Leftward lean

  1. Dan Rather is a southern boy from Texas and has a great understanding of watermelons and chicken and perhaps malt liquor. Its not only blacks that love watermelon and chicken, but most white southerners also like those things---where do you think the black got it from. As a white southerner I strong resent them co-opting my watermelon and chicken--I have more rights to those thing than they do.

On a serious note, Rather was just playing the race card, knowing there will be much critizism of Obama for felling to get his programs though congress despite the huge majorities his party has there.

  2. For an example of heavily ironic silence I offer Charles Johnson of LGF. A 9-11 conservative who helped expose Rathergate. Now firmly back in the leftist camp. He calls Robert Stacy McCain (http://theothermccain.com/) a "white supremacist", Robert Spencer (www.jihadwatch.org) a fascist etc etc. But Dan Rather? Silence.

  3. For an example of heavily ironic silence I offer Charles Johnson at LGF - The 9-11 conservative who helped expose Rathergate (along with Powerline). Now firmly back in the leftist camp. He calls Robert Stacy McCain (http://theothermccain.com/) a "white supremacist", Robert Spencer (www.jihadwatch.org) a fascist, Michelle Malkin a racist (!). But Dan Rather? No comment.

  4. I still waiting for someone on the left to say the real reason the Dems sacked Massa was so that Obama wouldn't have to address him by name, as in "Yes, Massa", "No, Massa," etc.
