Will we learn from others mistakes?

Daily Mail - The only terrorist captured alive after the Mumbai massacre has given police the first full account of the extraordinary events that led to it – revealing he was ordered to ‘kill until the last breath’. Azam Amir Kasab, 21, from Pakistan, said the attacks were meticulously planned six months ago and were intended to kill 5,000 people. He revealed that the ten terrorists, who were highly trained in marine assault and crept into the city by boat, had planned to blow up the Taj Mahal Palace hotel after first executing British and American tourists and then taking hostages.

FOXNews - India's top security official resigned on Sunday, as the government struggled under growing accusations of security failures following the Mumbai terror attacks that left at least 174 people dead, New Delhi TV reported. ......People in Mumbai have expressed dismay in the government and its response to the terrorist attacks. "Suddenly no one feels safe or secure," said Joe Sequeira, the manager of a popular restaurant near the Oberoi hotel. "Our Politicians Fiddle as Innocents Die," read a headline Sunday in the Times of India newspaper.
Everywhere, all across this planet, the masses put their faith in their respective states. Keep us safe, keep us healthy, do this and do that for us. Everyday we yearn to hand more and more responsibility over to someone, anyone we can. With responsibility, we hand them our liberty and freedom as well. They pass laws upon laws to make us feel like we're safer and that someone else will look after us and when those very laws fail us in the most terrible of ways, we stand around with mouths open, wondering why, why did they fail us.

I remember the other day reading that some British fellow, who was caught up in all this, watched in horror as one of the terrorists was asking people if they were British. A fellow ahead of him in the line said he was Italian and was spared. Fortunately for him he didn't have to pretend to be Italian and renounce Queen, Country and God to save himself. If they had been asking for Australians, would we have to courage to stand and tell them 'Oi, I AM Aussie, f*** you scumbag'? When I read that it struck me, in reality the laws that we expect will keep us safe and care for us only hinder us and rob us of our very dignity and our honor.

Imagine this were to happen in a Melbourne or Brisbane, gunmen burst into your cafe and start demanding to terrified people, are you American, you, you? Wouldn't you like to pull out your Browning Hi-Power and tell em', hey asshole, I'm American, eff you and the camel you came out of, you POS!

But you can't, the state that you believed in passed laws that won't protect you and worst of all they also won't let you protect yourself either. So you are forced into cowardice and dishonor. To leave your guests and your family no option but to always run, always hide, always beg. No, no I'm not Australian. No, no I'm not British. No, no I'm not American. No, no I'm not Christian. No, no I'm not.... anything. I'm nothing, no one, nobody. Spare me and I'll show you where the Americans and the British are....?

Remember Virginia Tech, only an old Jew who survived Nazi scum stood against evil that neither the state, the stupid gun-free zone nor the young adults were capable of stopping. May I also remind you.
LiveNews - One of five Sydney men accused of hatching a terrorist plot had enough ammunition in his home to fire a rifle non-stop for 38 hours, a jury has been told. Mohamed Ali Elomar, 43, is standing trial in the NSW Supreme Court over an alleged terror plot conceived between July 2004 and November 2005. ......A search of Elomar's house allegedly uncovered 12 guns, including two high-powered rifles and a total 28,000 rounds of ammunition. ......Between July and August 2005, Omar Baladjam - who is also named in the conspiracy - ordered an additional 20,000 rounds, worth $12,000, said Mr Maidment.
Recently I went off to the big city to our Sydney Opera House and the lack of security astounded me. Read the papers folks, people get robbed, mugged, murdered and whatever else with guns in our country. They were blowing up ATMs just last week, so you know, the dots are in front of you, you might want to connect them.

Granted our intelligence and security forces are hopefully better trained and better equipped that the Indians, but do you trust our state and our laws 100%? If so, then so be it. You might also want to learn Italian and pray to God Almighty that I'm wrong.
