Time for a reality check

Shock-Horror folks, everywhere you turn in the media, the constant message is, Bush=evil, Iraq=quagmire, you won't hear a damn thing about the surge or the tide being turned against the terrorists in Iraq or the progress being made there. Day after day after day, it's the same message and then the media tell us with a straight face, oh look guys, it appears many of you don't think much of Iraq or the US.
The war in Iraq and George Bush's presidency have sent Australia's opinion of the United States plummeting to a 30-year low. The US Studies Centre was established at the University of Sydney by the Howard Government, to improve relations between Australia and the United States. But its first survey will do little to help that goal, finding three out of four Australians believe our involvement in the ‘War on Terror’ has in fact made us a terrorist target. And in the four years since the Iraq war started, our level of confidence in US leadership has plunged from 66 to just 37 per cent. 48 per cent of us now believe it would be better for Australia to take a more independent stance, however 79 per cent of us still strongly support the US alliance. LiveNews.
That's sounds a bit socialist to me, like saying, we don't really like you Americans, with your guns and shoot-from-the-hip president and all that, we'd prefer not to be seen with you in public, but we'll take the protection and all that when the going gets a bit rough. Sorry Australia, you want to be independent, then sort your own ass out, you want to be free then when you fall, pick your own ass up. Perhaps if that 48% start coughing up for a much larger military, a bit less money for the dole bludgers, forget your socialized medicine and really start feeling the brunt of taking care of your own security they might come to appreciate our real friends.

What are you going to do if certain folks up north start sending terms of surrender over to us and when you call the WhiteHouse in a panic, Hillary/Obama says, look today's not good for me, blah, blah, it's full on for the rest of the week, how about Monday next week? I wonder if anyone will have the balls to conduct a survey then, let alone respond with such insolence.
