Heroes in my books

As a follow up to KG's post, The spirit of the 300 lives yet..., Captain David Hicks and L/Cpl Oliver Ruecker.

Two British soldiers from the same battalion have been nominated for the Victoria Cross in recognition of their incredible bravery in the face of the enemy. The citations for Britain's highest gallantry award came after the men were involved in fierce fighting against the Taliban in Afghanistan. The first is Captain David Hicks – who would become the first officer to win the VC since Falklands hero Lieutenant-Colonel Herbert 'H' Jones. The second is believed to be Lance-Corporal Oliver 'Teddy' Ruecker, 20. In May L/Cpl Ruecker fought off Taliban riflemen to rescue a badly wounded comrade from a burning armoured car. One VC has already been awarded for gallantry in Afghanistan.
The fact that there are two more nominations is an indication of the ferocity of the fighting involving British soldiers. The awards would be the first time two soldiers from the same battalion have received the Victoria Cross since the Korean War. L/Cpl Ruecker would be only the second living recipient of the VC in 38 years. Lord Guthrie added: "The ferocity of the fighting is such that I am not in the least bit surprised that a couple of these young soldiers would be recognised. "The gallantry in Afghanistan has been of the highest order. The Victoria Cross is awarded on merit. If you do win a VC, my goodness me, you deserve it." Source.

It's a bit confusing, they say that Captain Hicks was awarded the VC, and then two were nominated, read the whole article, I think they've just been nominated and some committee will decide later in the year. None the less these two are heroes in my books.

  1. Hero ? Having a baby killer elevated to 'hero' highlights the sick, twisted, and ongoing mass abortion of life perpetrated on a mostly innocent population. Another Zero in my book.

  2. Nice work, Perry. Can your cluefucked brain come up with evidence these men have killed babies?

Yeah I thought so. Now go fuck a lead pipe.

  3. Because our troops invaded Iraq (illegally) they have assumed the responsibility for the welfare of the people. So far around 300,000 people have died under their watch. As with most disasters (and this is the biggest man made disater since the Seppos sucked us in to Vietnam), you can double that amount for the maimed. The Iraqis are pining for the 'good old days' when Saddam was in charge and there was ample basics like food, water, electricity, clothes, etc. Why are our troops still there ? They are not rebuilding because the Seppos are far from finishing the destruction. With 40 bombing raids a day every day, they'e trying hard but total destruction of a nation takes time. We are not there to promote 'democracy' (whatever that is). The hostility towards the democratically elected majority Hamas government in Palestine proves that the Seppos aren't interested in bringing democracy to the Middle East. We are not there to find WMDs as there weren't any there in the first place. I can't see any reason for our troops to be there. Btw, your hopelessly feeble attempt at an insult left me rofl. I can see that you have a lot to learn.

  4. No you dipshit. The politicians who ordered the war assume responsibility. War is a continuation of politics by other means.

Unless you can provide some clear scientific evidence as to how you arrived at 300,000 you can go shit yourself a brick. This would have the same weight to this argument as that idiotic number.

Your crap about 'nam is bullshit and continues to be unless you can add evidence to that.

Really the Iraqis want Saddam back? How did you work this out? I assume you also mean they're pining for their daughters being swept up from the streets to be raped and abused by Saddam's sons? Also the mass executions of the whim of a dictator as well?

Your total utter idiotic ignorance of the situation is fucking great.

Did you know that 47 countries have re-established their embassies in Iraq?

Did you know that the Iraqi government currently employs 1.2 million Iraqi people?

Did you know that 3,100 schools have been renovated, 364 schools are under rehabilitation, 263 new schools are now under construction and 38 new schools have been completed in Iraq?

Did you know that Iraq 's higher educational structure consists of 20 universities, 46 institutes or colleges and 4 research centres, all currently operating?

Did you know that 25 Iraq students departed for the United States in January 2005 for the re-established Fulbright program?

Did you know that the Iraqi navy is operational? They have five 100-foot patrol craft, 34 smaller vessels and a naval infantry regiment.

Did you know that Iraq 's Air Force consists of three operational squadrons, which includes 9 reconnaissance and 3 US C-130 transport aircraft (under Iraqi operational control) which operate day and night, and will soon add 16 UH-1 helicopters and 4 Bell Jet Rangers?

Did you know that Iraq has a counter-terrorist unit and a Commando Battalion?

Did you know that the Iraqi Police Service has over 55,000 fully trained and equipped police officers?

Did you know that there are 5 Police Academies in Iraq that produce over 3,500 new officers each 8 weeks?

Did you know there are more than 1,100 building projects going on in Iraq?

They include 364 schools, 67 public clinics, 15 hospitals, 83 railroad stations,
22 oil facilities, 93 water facilities and 69 electrical facilities.

Did you know that 96% of Iraqi children under the age of 5 have received the first two series of polio vaccinations?

Did you know that 4.3 million Iraqi children were enrolled in primary school by mid October?

Did you know that there are 1,192,000 cell phone subscribers in Iraq and phone use has gone up 158%?

Did you know that Iraq has an independent media that consists of 75 radio stations, 180 newspapers and 10 television stations?

Did you know that the Baghdad Stock Exchange opened in June of 2004?

This is all based on US DoD reports that actually assess the situation on the ground

I guess Al Maliki wasn't elected by the people in a democratic election. This PROVES that they aren't after democracy, right?

I guess a terrorist organisation that plans to murder every single Israeli is worth electing right?

You stupid ignorant idiot. Democracy doesn't mean you allow populism. Hamas is a terrorist organisation.

You obviously have never seen sunlight. There was evidence of WMD s in Iraq. The UN found samples of munitions in the area. This reported on pg 25 as a footnote.

It is YOU who must learn. It is YOU who must learn to provide evidence for arguments. It is YOU who must scrape together a few brain cells and see how idiotic you sound.

  5. Oh and you still haven't provided any logical inference to support the fact these men are baby killers. I ask again, when did these men kill babies?

  7. So all your 'reliable' informatiom came from the DoD, the same organisation that lied us into this quagmire and told us how great things were going for 11 years in Vietnam before the Seppos got the biggest arse kicking in American history. They say that truth is the first victim of any conflict. It's strange that the DoD tells us about all the great things that are happening in Iraq, but can't supply one single phtoto of any infrastructure that has been rebuilt. That would be a nice change from the miles of video of endless destruction. Are you trying to tell that 5 years of indiscriminate aerial bombing by our misguided allies has not resulted in a single innocent Iraq death? The Seppos are so callous that they don't regard the Iraqi deaths as people but 'collateral damage'. No wonder we've lost this battle. Nice try, but no cigar for you. Keep those insults coming, they're hilarious, and they confirm your immaturity.

  8. Good work Perry! You've demonstrated and alarming lack of logic in your argument. Firstly, you argue ad hominem, attacking the source of information rather than the information itself. This is an erroneous line of reasoning. Just because you may think DoD lies does ensure that the information is wrong. Please cite sources contradicting these figures and their methodology for obtaining these figures. Therefore your point is entirely vacuous, irrelevant, and plain wrong.

They say that truth is the first victim of any conflict.

As demonstrated by your lies and piss poorly supported points.

It's strange that the DoD tells us about all the great things that are happening in Iraq, but can't supply one single phtoto of any infrastructure that has been rebuilt

Why is that my problem? They're everywhere. You go look for them. It's your problem.

Are you trying to tell that 5 years of indiscriminate aerial bombing by our misguided allies has not resulted in a single innocent Iraq death?

Where did I say that? WHERE?

I said your 300,000 figure was wrong. I know this because that figure came from a half-arsed study. The "scientists" won't even release the data they used to arrive at that figure for peer review. This immediately brings their finding into suspicion.

The Seppos are so callous that they don't regard the Iraqi deaths as people but 'collateral damage'.

Your and idiot. It's simply a military term for unintended civilian casualties. This is not a measure of the value of those lives. Typical lefty that you are ignorant on these matters.

Finally, if the Seppos regard Iraqi lives as beneath them why are they dying for them? Why do they patrol the streets risking death everyday? Why do they drain billions of dollars from their economy to help Iraq? DO YOU GET IT? THEY ARE LOSING MONEY FIGHTING THIS WAR! If it was about oil, why aren't the troops deployed only around the rigs? Why aren't there exclusion zones so that no terrorist can get near the precious machinery?

Clearly perry, your position is untenable and contradicts reality. In other words, at another day at the office for your lefty brain.

No wonder we've lost this battle.

Wow, how do you figure? Oh you mean the lies and half-arsed piss stains you reckon are arguments?

Nice try, but no cigar for you. Keep those insults coming, they're hilarious, and they confirm your immaturity.

Nice try, but you've just had your erroneous logic shot to pieces. The best part of ran down the back of your mother's crack you filthy shit-stain on humanity.
