Not enough

Have been bashed, not enough have been beaten senseless, not enough have been shot, not enough have been stabbed. When enough of us have been subjected to the above, then we may figure out that our governments and law enforcement cannot protect us adequately.
A New Year's Eve picnic turned into a night of violence when police failed to stop 50 drunken teenagers and young adults from attacking two families in northern NSW.
The mob trashed the families' holiday house and even hurled a three-year-old girl onto a road. The owner of the house, Adrian Leckie, had six teeth knocked out, his brother-in-law Phillip Hurst suffered head injuries and a family friend had an eye socket fractured after being knocked unconscious.

"We've jumped over the picket fence into our yard, because we could see something was going to happen," Mr Leckie said. But three of Mr Leckie's children - aged seven, three, and 18 months - weren't able to make it inside the house and were caught in the middle of the fracas. "I couldn't get to them because I was getting my head bashed into poles. I was worried for my children, but these guys just came and gang attacked us, we had no chance. It wasn't provoked or anything."
Apparently Leckie and Hurst had tried to stop the group from bashing one of their own, when the mob turned on them, no good deed… should have left the scumbags to sort their own vermin out.
Eventually Mr Leckie and his family managed to make it inside their house as the youths smashed windows and pulled down security grilles. "They broke my fence. They threw push bikes through windows, pulled security grilles off my windows to try and get at us," he said.

Some of the attackers managed to get in, but Mr Leckie, who had run into the kitchen and grabbed a knife, chased them off. Eventually, and by the time most of the attackers had dispersed, two police arrived on foot. No arrests have been made over the assault.
If he had managed to use that kitchen knife on one of the bastards, you can bet your bottom dollar he’d be arrested and facing a court before they found his missing teeth.

Even if they made any arrests, the courts will let them out because they didn’t really mean to knock all his teeth out, it was their first time, it was the crowd, the alcohol, TV, etc.

And who is going to pay for their trashed house, broken fence, broken windows, their health care costs, I hear the waiting periods for dental care are months long. You can bet the scumbags who caused all this won’t be anywhere to be found. The harsh reality is that, a bunch of young rascals can gang up on you, beat the living daylights out of you, simply because they can. If you’re alive after they’ve had their fun, you’ll be left to pick up the pieces and get on with it, if you want justice, you’ll be lucky if someone gives you 50 cents to call someone who gives a damn.
