The Traitors Among Us

This is precisely why, ever since I went to University, I wanted to see the compulsory student union fee abolished:

Probe into uni body's terror link

MONASH University's student union is facing a Federal Government probe after it gave financial support to an Iraqi oil worker with links to the insurgency.

Attorney-General Philip Ruddock has been asked to investigate whether the $1000 payment to Foraok Isma'al broke Australian law. The university's Clayton union, the Monash Student Association, was among several groups that helped sponsor the unionist's political tour of Australia this year, as reported by the Herald Sun last month.

The union defended its decision, even though Mr Isma'al's organisation, the Southern Oil Workers Union, supports insurgents fighting coalition forces in Iraq.

The union said the money had not come from the compulsory amenities fee paid by students.
Balls it didn’t! One way or another, that’s precisely where it came from, you lying frog. I used to see this crap being peddled when I was a student, and I despised it. I despised being forced to hand over my money to these bastards, so they could push their Leftist agendas. How they used to laugh about it, too. Thought it was terrific.

"This is another example why students should not be compelled to pay a fee to a university union when it can be so misused."
Spot on. And misused it was.

The probe comes ahead of a Coalition party room showdown over the Government's controversial plan to abolish compulsory student unionism.

The legislation is due to be debated in the Senate tomorrow, but the Government is yet to win the crucial support of Nationals senator Barnaby Joyce for the Bill.
For the record, I despise Barnaby Joyce, too. I don't care what the take is on Telstra or the bush, or anything else, for that matter. He got elected on a certain ticket, for a certain reason. Taking the opportunity to be a grandstanding little fart wasn't it.

Labor and the Australian Democrats yesterday scoffed at a plan by Education Minister Brendan Nelson for university students to vote on the issue.
I bet they did. They know the score. The bunch of them cut their political teeth at Universities around the country, active for the various political student movements (but mostly ALP clubs), all of which are funded by student union handouts that suck their fellow students dry.

"What's Brendan Nelson going to suggest next -- that we have a national referendum on whether or not we should all pay tax?" Opposition education spokeswoman Jenny Macklin said.
Oh, how ludicrous! What a cut down. Ask the people something? Oh, Brendan, you imbecile! Of course, actually asking a voter anything at all is poison to you, isn’t it, Jenny, you scone-faced harpy: ‘What’s Brendan going to suggest next – that we have national elections that might end up installing conservative governments?’

"What Labor wants to see is all of the student services on our university campuses continue."
If, by ‘student services’, you refer to effectively handing money to terrorists, Jenny, then may I respectfully suggest that you stick a rhabdovirus drenched Echidna up your arse. Not keen on doing intestinal combat with a rabid pin monster? Can’t say I blame you, Jen’.

So, I can think of at least one ‘student service’ I’d happily pay to see delivered.
