I do believe that if I met this man, I would put him in hospital. A disgusting excuse for a human. Richard Carleton was minutes away from being taken away in September 1999 by Indonesian militia's and disappeared. Unfortunately, someone stopped this. Tonight in Australia, 60 Minutes' Richard Carleton has his go at what's happening in Iraq. A bigger case of sour grapes I have yet to see in the Australian media. I take that back. The Margoyle is getting there, but it is universally acknowledged by it's peers to be unstable and prone to complete lunacy. Now that's a surprise.
"Two years ago, we went to war with our American allies in the invasion of Iraq. The justification was said to be Saddam Hussein's frightening arsenal, his weapons of mass destruction. That was a lie, the first of many. Sure, Saddam has been tossed out and will be tried for his crimes. There's been an election and many Iraqis voted. But there's still no peace."
The justification was 17 UN Security Council Resolutions. The justification was the refusal of Hussein to provide unfettered access to his weapons program. The justification was a continuation of the terms of cease-fire, not surrender, from the first Gulf War. Richard Carleton would have preferred something else to occur. Of this I have no doubt. However, if you can find an opponent of the current Iraq situation to provide their plan for what SHOULD have happened, good luck. It's all about what NOT to do, not what they believe should have occured.
Why? Because the opponents of the Iraq occupation know that their bullshit theories fall down when exposed to the reality of Saddam Hussein and the intransigence of his regime. In fact, let's not refer to it as a regime. Let's call it what it was. A collective group of genuinely evil, murderous animals. If they were dogs, the anti-war crowd would have been calling for their destruction years ago.
There is no argument, however convoluted, that could possibly justify the continuation of the inspections that were continually thwarted and obstructed within Iraq. Force, and force alone, allowed the ISG to continue their work. Carleton's disingenuous claims of no WMD's fall down against the facts. They were there. Now, they are probably in another Arab country. More than likely Syria.
Richard Carleton is still a poor excuse for a human. Lucky for Australia, it's continued existence isn't determined by the decisions of idiots like this.
